JU, TBS organises session on "Commodity Derivatives Exchange"

JAMMU, Oct 11: The Business School, University of Jammu organized an interactive session on "Commodity Derivatives Exchange" on the occasion of World Investor Week that is being observed from 9th-15th October, 2023. The event was organized under the able guidance of Prof. Vinay Chauhan, Director The Business School, University of Jammu.
Invited speaker, Jay Gopal Goel, Senior Manager Business Development Division, Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) in his expressive address enlightened the students about the nature of commodities and the inherent risks entailed in day-to-day businesses. He delved into the complexities of commodity price mechanisms and the accompanying volatility, offering invaluable insights. Furthermore, he elucidated the concept of derivatives and urged the students to keep a track of commodity prices with a particular focus on crude oil. Goel meticulously explained the regulatory framework of governing commodity market and provided a comprehensive overview of the commodities ecosystem.
Ajay Kapoor, a prominent stock market analyst and Business Partner and Director at Sharekhan, Jammu was also an invited speaker for the session. He shared his extensive knowledge by enlightening the students about the essential do's and don'ts of financial and commodity markets. He navigated through the complexities of the subject matter, providing guidance to the attentive audience.
Earlier, Prof. Alka Sharma, senior faculty member, TBS and Director, Skill Incubation Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development Centre, University of Jammu formally welcomed the guests and ignited the students' enthusiasm by emphasizing the importance of developing robust financial skills.
The enthusiastic students asked pertinent questions that were duly addressed by the experts. The event was coordinated by Dr. Amisha Gupta, Associate Professor, TBS and Dr. Shelleka Gupta, coordinator, Management Club of TBS.
