Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 11: Deputy Commissioner, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, today presided over a meeting to evaluate the status of the health sector within the district. The meeting delved into a comprehensive review of previous decisions and their successful execution.
Central to the discussions were strategies for the fortification of Primary Health Centers and Community Health Centers. The DC underscored the pivotal role these healthcare facilities play in ensuring the efficient delivery of medical services across the district, thereby alleviating the necessity for patients to travel to Jammu city or other distant hospitals for treatment.
The meeting also addressed pertinent matters, including staff positions, the recruitment of medical personnel and the availability of specialist doctors. The DC emphasised the significance of equipping primary and secondary healthcare facilities to offer a wide range of medical services, reducing the dependence on tertiary hospitals.
In a bid to improve professionalism, punctuality, work ethics and adherence to duty timings, stringent directives were issued to root out any unprofessional behavior within the healthcare system.
Additionally, the meeting deliberated on the prevalence of Lower Segment Cesarean Section and advocated for comprehensive counselling to maintain balanced proportions in childbirth procedures. The importance of Information, Education and Communication campaigns in healthcare was also explored during the session.
Sachin stressed that prescribed medicines in hospitals must be readily available at respective Jan Aushadhi Kendras, especially for routine cases. Patients are to be necessarily encouraged to make use of PMJAY SEHAT Golden Cards for enhanced healthcare access.
The Deputy Commissioner urged for a thorough examination of the supply chain and inventory of medicines within healthcare facilities to ensure uninterrupted services. The meeting drew the participation of Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Harbaksh Singh, Medical Superintendents, Block Medical Officers and other key stakeholders in the healthcare sector.
