JKTF holds protest for timely GP fund release
10/14/2023 10:26:10 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 14: The Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum, under the leadership of Chairman Sh. Ganesh Khajuria, organized a one-day protest demonstration at Hari Singh Park behind Press Club Jammu. The protest witnessed participation from hundreds of employees belonging to various cadres in the School Education Department and other government departments.
The participants voiced their demands and expressed their frustration and disappointment over the prolonged delay in the release of GP (General Provident) fund payments, which has caused significant financial stress for Jammu & Kashmir Government employees. The delay extends to Leave Salary and Gratuity dues, causing alarm among the employees. As time passes, the pending GP fund payment cases continue to accumulate in the finance department. Despite multiple submissions of memorandums by the union and media coverage, the issue remains unresolved. The employees have been left to face the consequences.
It's essential to highlight that the GP fund loses its significance when it's not disbursed in a timely manner. Employees apply for these funds due to various pressing needs, such as covering treatment expenses for terminally ill family members, organizing marriage functions, or financing their children's higher education. The inordinate delay has disrupted their plans, and accessing their hard-earned money has become a bureaucratic ordeal, leading to widespread discontent among the employees.
During his address, Ganesh Khajuria strongly criticized the authorities' approach and issued a warning that if the chronic issue is not resolved promptly, the Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum will take to the streets, holding the LG Government responsible for any ensuing consequences.
Prominent figures who participated in the protest demonstration included Soorat Singh Toofani, Darshan Sharma, Rajinder Gupta, Gopal Singh, Raj Singh, Kuldeep Singh Bandral, Kuldeep Verma, P.D Singh, Gautam Singh, Surinder Sharma, Bharat Bhushan Sharma, Uttam Singh (President of the Excise Department Employees Union), Subash Sharma, Rajeshwar Singh, Ravinder Tripathi, Pawan Sharma, Subash Singh, Surinder Chaudhary, Jatinder Singh, Bishan Sharma, Ashwani Sharma, Gurbachan Singh, Ravinder Singh, Davinder Singh, Rakesh Singh, Ashwani Raina, Rashpal Khajuria, Iqvinder Pal Singh, Daleep Dhingra, Gulam Hussain, Gurmeet Singh, and many others.
