Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 14: Shivani Charak, an accomplished sport climber representing the Mountaineering Association of Jammu & Kashmir, has retained her position as the top-ranked sport climber in India. She secured this position in the combined Lead climbing and Bouldering categories in the women's division, according to the rankings issued by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation, the country's apex body for adventure sports.
Shivani Charak's achievement is especially noteworthy as she is the sole sport climber from Jammu & Kashmir to achieve this ranking. She has consistently proven her excellence in sport climbing. In the women's category, she was followed by four international sport climbers, including Prateeksha Arun from Karnataka, Saniya Farooque Shaikh from Maharashtra, Anisha Verma from Jharkhand, and Ritika Rawat from Delhi, who were ranked from 2nd to 5th positions, respectively.
Furthermore, two other sport climbers from Jammu & Kashmir, Ajay Deep Singh (currently with the Services team) and Arun Deep Singh, have also secured positions among the top 20 climbers in India in combined Lead climbing and Bouldering. Ajay Deep Singh is ranked 10th, while Arun Deep Singh claimed the 16th spot in the Men's category.
Shivani Charak, who recently returned to Jammu after participating in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, is now fully dedicated to her goal of competing in the Olympics, which will take place next year in Paris, France. She is actively preparing for the Olympic Qualification event scheduled to be held in Indonesia next month.
