Nine SKUAST Jammu Students Set for Internship at Western Sydney University, Australia | | | Early Times Report
Jammu,Oct 15: Nine students from Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) Jammu have been selected for a two-month internship at Western Sydney University, Sydney, Australia. This opportunity is part of the National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP), sponsored by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the World Bank. The selected students had the opportunity to meet with the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of SKUAST Jammu, Dr. B. N. Tripathi. He congratulated them on their impressive performance in the selection process and offered his best wishes for their upcoming academic endeavors at Western Sydney University. Dr. Tripathi expressed confidence that the students would excel in representing their institution and return with a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with their peers. He provided them with tips on how to make the most of this opportunity and how to interact effectively with their colleagues at WSU. The students expressed their gratitude to the Vice Chancellor and shared their excitement about the opportunity. This internship program will allow the selected students to embark on an enriching journey to Western Sydney University, expanding their horizons and contributing to their personal and academic growth. The internships will provide these bright minds with the chance to engage in cutting-edge agricultural technology, gain international exposure, and establish valuable connections. The participating students are from the Faculty of Agriculture and the School of Biotechnology at SKUAST Jammu. Dr. B.C. Sharma, Dean of Agriculture, and Dr. S. K. Gupta, Registrar, were also present during the meeting. Prof. Vikas Sharma, coordinator of the NAHEP, introduced the students and informed the administration about the details of the internship program. He explained that the students would receive hands-on training along with academic lectures covering modern aspects of agriculture, including digital tools in agriculture, automation and AI, climate change, protected cultivation, and more. It's worth noting that the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Western Sydney University, Australia. Western Sydney University is renowned for its contributions to research, innovation, and the development of future leaders and was ranked as the number one university in the world for the second year in a row in the Time Higher Education Impact Rankings. |
