Amrit Kalash Yatra reaches District Headquarter Kupwara

KUPWARA, Oct 16: Under ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’, a nation-wide campaign envisaged as the culminating event of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Amrit Kalash Yatras from all 24 blocks and three ULBs of Kupwara district reached at TRC Kupwara. People from across the district, in a large number, chanting patriotic songs amid a festive environment converged at TRC to receive Amrit Kalash Yatra, despite incessant rains.
The mitti and rice collected from the villages during the village level kalash yatras in earthen pots (Kalash) was brought from block headquarters to TRC Kupwara in a festive environment. Yatra from block headquarters was accompanied by concerned chairperson BDC, BDOs, PRIs, and employees of different blocks of RDD. At TRC Kupwara, Amrit Kalash yatra was welcomed and received by Chairman, District Development Council Kupwara, Irfan Sultan Panditpori; Vice Chairman, Haji Farooq Ahmad Mir; District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan, ADDC Kupwara, Altaf Ahmad Khan; ACD Kupwara, ACP Kupwara, CEO LBDDA, District Information Officer Kupwara, Dy.CEO Kupwara and students from different educational institutions were present on the occasion.
Chairman District Development Council Kupwara, Irfan Sultan Panditpori thanked district Administration Kupwara, PRIs and officers and functionaries of Rural Development department for working tirelessly and making MMMD campaign a success in the district.
Vice Chairman, District Development Council Kupwara said that the Meri Maati Mera Desh (MMMD) campaign was started to encourage people to pay their tributes to the Veers (Martyrs) who dedicated and sacrificed their lives for the nation.
The campaign unfolded at Panchayat/Village and Block level inviting people to participate in Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign through various activities such as construction of Shilaphalakams, tree plantation, Veeron ka Vandan, and Panch Pran ceremonies.
DDC Kupwara, on the occasion said that the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” programme aims to respect and remember those heroes who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
She said that this initiative has been aimed to infuse a sense of patriotism and nationalistic fervor within the hearts of the people. Under this campaign, the DDC said, soil was taken from door to door and put in the Amrit kalash.
The purpose of which was to make our future generations understand these sacrifices, she said that all this soil will be used to make Amrit Vatika in Delhi, a place which would be visited by every person with a feeling of belongingness.
A scintillating cultural programme was presented by students of different educational institutions.
ADDC Kupwara Altaf Khan expressed gratitude to all the PRIs, Representatives of ULBs, District officers, students and general public for their massive participation in the event braving incessant rain and cold weather.
