JAMMU, Oct 16: Apni Party Provincial Secretary and Incharge membership drive, Dr Rohit Gupta has criticised Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL) has failed to supply 24/7 electricity to the power of consumers in Jammu even during Navratri festivals. In a statement to the press, Dr Rohit Gupta said that the JPDCL has not been able to supply electricity even after installing smart meters across Jammu. "Navratri festival are being celebrated in Jammu and the cold weather conditions have gradually started in Jammu with a spell of rainfall for last two days. However, the people facing harrassment because unscheduled curtailment in city and it's pheripherial areas, " he said. He said that the JPDCL had assured the people of Jammu that they would ensure round the clock power supply in meterred areas. However, the situation is quite opposite because of three to four hours of long frequent power cuts. The people hardly get electricity for 8 hours in 24 hours and this situation has also affected the drinking water supply.
He said that the people had opposed the installation of smart meters because of excessive bills being generated but the JPDCL remained amdment to install same with the help of police and revenue officials.
He however appealed to the authorities to ensure 24/7 electricity supply in Jammu and uninterrupted drinking water supply
