GCW Bhagwati Nagar organizes awareness seminar on cleanliness, hygiene

JAMMU, Oct 16: Government College for Women (GCW), Bhagwati Nagar, organized an enlightening Awareness Seminar within the college campus on October 16, 2023. The seminar aimed to promote and uphold the values and principles of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the country. The event was successfully conducted under the esteemed guidance of the college's Principal, Dr. Meeru Abrol.
Dr. Meeru Abrol, in her address, emphasized the critical importance of sanitation and cleanliness. She also took the opportunity to honor the college's dedicated sweeper for their noble service. Dr. Abrol further underscored the fundamental ideology of maintaining a clean and green environment as a cornerstone of sustainable development.
During the seminar, Dr. Mosmi Raina, a faculty member from the Department of Environmental Sciences, delivered a lecture highlighting the significance of cleanliness, personal hygiene, and sanitation. Dr. Raina stressed that maintaining clean surroundings is crucial for ensuring a healthy and active life, contributing to both physical and mental well-being. Additionally, she shed light on the pressing issue of single-use plastics and their adverse impact on the environment.
Professor Nisha Bhagat, from the Department of Sociology, raised awareness among the students about the recent outbreaks of diseases such as malaria and dengue and the precautions that need to be taken to curb their spread. She also underscored the critical importance of clean drinking water for a disease-free life.
The students of GCW Bhagwati Nagar enthusiastically participated in the seminar, displaying their commitment to the cause of cleanliness and hygiene. Such seminars not only educate students about the importance of cleanliness but also equip them with the knowledge and motivation to contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment.
