Inter-Collegiate Cross Country (Women) Championship 2023-24 concludes at JU

JAMMU, Oct 16: The Directorate of Sports & Physical Education at the University of Jammu, Jammu, organized the Inter-Collegiate Cross Country (Women) Championship for the academic year 2023-24 at the Jammu University Campus. This event saw participation from 10 colleges, with 20 athletes competing in the championship.
Pooja Devi, representing GDC Ramnagar, secured the Gold Medal by completing the race in an impressive time of 49 minutes and 48.62 seconds. Shilppi Thakur, also from GDC Ramnagar, and Sakshi from GDC Jindrah claimed the 2nd and 3rd positions, finishing the race in 50 minutes and 57.18 seconds and 52 minutes and 59.85 seconds, respectively.
Dr. Vikram Sahi, the Librarian at Dhanvantri Library, University of Jammu, had the honor of being the Chief Guest for the occasion and flagged off the race. The event was also attended by various dignitaries, including Dr. Mandeep Singh, Assistant Professor, Vimal Kishore, Assistant Professor, Gagan Kumar, Vikas Karlopia, Jai Bharat, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Dr. Mahak, Inderjeet Singh, Ms. Richa Mandla, Rishiv Sharma, S. Tanpreet Singh Baga from GDC Pouni, Dr. Vikesh Sharma from GDC Jindrah, Suman Sharma from GCW Parade, Vikram Jamwal from GDC Hiranagar, and Physical Training Instructors (PTIs) from various colleges.
The event was efficiently conducted by officials including Sdr. Gurcharan Singh (Athletics Coach), Nirmal Singh (Athletics Coach), Sdr. Harsimran Singh (Athletics Coach), and students pursuing M.P. Ed and B.P. Ed.
The Inter-Collegiate Cross Country (Women) Championship was organized under the guidance of Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, the Director of the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education at the University of Jammu. This event not only showcases the athletic talents of the participating students but also promotes physical fitness and sportsmanship among the youth.
