Farewell party for MA/MSc Geography Graduates hosted by GD C Kathua

KATHUA, Oct 16: The Post Graduate Department of Geography at Government Degree College Kathua recently organized a heartfelt Farewell Party to bid farewell to the graduating students of M.A/M.Sc. Geography, who had completed their fourth semester. The event took place in the college's conference hall and was graced by the presence of Prof. Seema Mir, the esteemed Principal of the college. The farewell ceremony commenced with the traditional lighting of a lamp, symbolizing the start of a new journey for the departing students. The proceedings of the function were initiated by Reetika and Abida, students from the P.G Sem-3rd. The event featured a series of activities and presentations, with students enthusiastically participating in singing and dancing performances that celebrated both patriotic and cultural themes.
Prof. Seema Mir, the Chief Guest of the occasion, congratulated the department for hosting the farewell function. She acknowledged that a farewell gathering is a cherished moment filled with emotions and love. Prof. Mir also recognized the Post Graduate Department of Geography as a prestigious asset to the college and pledged her full support for its continued development.
Dr. Verinder Singh, the Head of the Geography department, also addressed the gathering. He highlighted the department's notable achievements and emphasized that its alumni have gone on to work in various capacities in government and private agencies. Dr. Singh commended the dedication and hard work of both the teachers and students in the department, extending his best wishes to the outgoing class. As part of the festivities, the department organized the "Mr. & Miss Geography 2023" competition, where students competed in various activities. Yuvraj Kyshap was crowned Geography 2023, while Printy Sharma was declared Miss. Geography 2023.
The evening concluded with a felicitation ceremony, where the Principal and staff members honored and Miss. Geography 2023. Dr. Amrik Singh, an Assistant Professor in the PG Department of Geography, delivered the formal vote of thanks.
The event was attended by senior faculty members, including Prof. Raj Kiran, Prof. Jagdish Lal, Dr. Surendar Singh, Prof. Ruby Raina, Dr. Raj Kumar, Prof. Jyoti Sharma, Prof. Charan Singh, and others. This memorable farewell party celebrated the accomplishments of the students and the dedication of the faculty, making it a great success.
