Father-son duo charged with forging school leaving certificate for Govt job | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 16: In a recent development, the Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch in Jammu has charge-sheeted a father-son duo, Mukhtyar Ahmed and Bashir Ahmed, for their alleged involvement in a scheme to forge a school leaving certificate, which enabled Mukhtyar Ahmed to secure a government job in the Power Development Department of Jammu and Kashmir. The accused now face serious charges under various sections of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC), including fraud and criminal conspiracy. The case, with FIR No. 26/2023, has been registered under Sections 420 (fraud), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), 471 (using a forged document as genuine), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the RPC. The charges allege that the accused manipulated official documents to obtain a government position, causing financial losses to the state. The case emerged when a complaint was lodged by Sarfarz Ahmed, son of Bashir Ahmed, a resident of Sunderpur village in the R.S. Pura Tehsil of Jammu district. Sarfarz Ahmed obtained information through the Right to Information Act-2005 from the Chief Education Officer of Jammu. This information revealed that the school leaving certificate submitted by Mukhtyar Ahmed, which was dated 1979, was not genuine. Instead, admission No. 1311 was issued in the name of Nazia Bano, daughter of Naseer Ahmed. This irregularity indicated that the certificate presented by Mukhtyar Ahmed to secure his government job was fraudulent. Upon receiving the complaint, the Economic Offences Wing initiated a preliminary verification of the allegations. As the allegations were prima facie substantiated, a comprehensive investigation was launched. Relevant records were obtained and seized from the concerned school and the Power Development Department of Jammu and Kashmir. Statements from witnesses were recorded, and substantial circumstantial and material evidence was gathered against the accused. The investigation revealed that Mukhtyar Ahmed, in collaboration with his father Bashir Ahmed, had conspired to fabricate false documents in order to secure a government position. As a result, the accused now face charges, and a charge-sheet has been submitted to the court for judicial determination. The case underscores the commitment of the authorities to uphold the integrity of government employment processes and maintain transparency in public institutions. The legal proceedings will determine the guilt or innocence of the accused as they face the allegations brought against them. |
