DC Srinagar holds district level cooperative development committee meeting

SRINAGAR, Oct 18: With a view to further diversify the business activities of PACS to make them vibrant economic entities and review the implementation and progress of various schemes aimed to strengthen Cooperative movement and deepening its reach to the grassroots level, a meeting of District level Cooperative Development Committee (DLCDC) was today held under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad here at Conference Hall of DC Office Complex.
Besides, Additional District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, the meeting was attended by the Chief Planning Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Deputy Registrar Cooperatives, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Assistant Director Fisheries, Assistant Directors FCS&CA, DDM NABARD, Officers from J&K State Cooperative Bank, Cooperative Department and other concerned.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner, who is also the Chairman District Cooperative Development Committee (DLCDC) took a detailed appraisal of the interventions being adopted to make Primary Cooperative Societies as vibrant entities of the economy.
A threadbare deliberation on different initiatives and key components under PACS to diversify the business activities and make them vibrant economic entities.
The DC reviewed the status of the adoption of Model Bye-laws by PACS, hardware procurement, Opening of New M-PACS/ Dairy/ Fishery in District per month in all 16 uncovered Panchayats, opening up of Jan Aushadhi Kendra, LPG/ Petrol/ Diesel distribution outlets, PM Kisan Samriddhi Kendras, One PACS per District for World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan, Rural Piped Water Supply, Registration of Tribal Cooperatives, Verification and Certification of Data entered on National Cooperative Database, Preparation of DPR for setting up Bamboo/Willow Wicker etc.
On the occasion, the DC was informed that all the 07 PACS in District Srinagar have adopted Model Bye-Laws by the concerned elected Board of Managements and Data of all 07 PACS have been uploaded and recommended for computerization.
Similarly, the Committee was apprised that for establishment of One PACS per District for World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan, Land has been Identified in Balhama Khonmoh area of the District and process is going on fast track basis. With regard to opening up of 5 Jan Aushadhi Kendra initial approval has been received for PACS at Palpora and Hyderpora. The PM Kisan Samriddhi Kendras are also being set up by PACS at Gasoo and Palpora areas of the District.
Likewise, the DC was informed that Verification and Certification data of as many as 1655 Cooperative Societies registered in Srinagar District has been entered on the National Cooperative Database as on date.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner stressed on all the members of the Committee to work in coordinated efforts in order to achieve the targets of various initiatives of the Ministry of Cooperation to further strengthen the cooperative ecosystem. The DC also stressed the importance of the Cooperative movement and how it benefits society on a large scale for their economic empowerment and enhancing income generation avenues.
The DC asked the Committee to assess the availability of the suitable land for the Cooperative School in the District and also asked for exploring possibilities to provide Mid-day meals for the school children of the School.
