Early Times Report
RAMGARH, Oct 18: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit-Prabha and IQAC of Government Degree College Ramgarh organized a special screening of a documentary on 'Khadi Awareness' as part of the 'Atma Nirbhar Bharat' initiative. The event was conducted under the guidance and leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, the Principal of the college.
In the smart classroom of the college, students were treated to an enlightening documentary designed to raise awareness about the significance of Khadi. Dr. Aditi Khajuria, Convener of IQAC at the college, provided valuable insights about Khadi's historical importance as the fabric of the freedom struggle and its association with the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. She explained that Mahatma Gandhi developed the concept of Khadi as a means to provide employment to the unemployed rural population and to make them self-reliant. Dr. Khajuria further emphasized the relevance of Khadi Mahotsav in sensitizing citizens, particularly students and youth, to the importance of local products like Khadi and handloom in terms of their contribution to the economy, ecology, women empowerment, and the need to promote and adopt them.
The event was effectively coordinated by Dr. Shamsher Lal, the Programme Officer of NSS, and was attended by the college's teaching staff, who graced the occasion with their presence. The students, the primary audience of the documentary screening, enthusiastically and patiently absorbed the knowledge presented in the documentary, making the event a resounding success.
This initiative by GDC Ramgarh highlights the importance of educating the youth about the cultural and economic significance of Khadi, aligning with the vision of 'Atma Nirbhar Bharat' (Self-Reliant India).
