Northern Railway announces 34 special trains for Pooja festival travel

NEW DELHI, Oct 18: In an effort to facilitate the travel of passengers during the Pooja festival and provide a comfortable journey for those visiting their native places, Northern Railway has announced the operation of 34 special trains with a total of 377 trips. These special trains will offer additional seat and berth availability during the festive rush, helping passengers reach their destinations to celebrate the festival with their families.
The special trains include a total of 5980 coaches, comprising 1326 General Class, 3328 Sleeper, and 2513 AC coaches, catering to passengers of all classes. Furthermore, 152 additional coaches have been augmented in 69 trains to accommodate more travelers.
This initiative by Northern Railway is part of the festive preparations for 2023, with the aim of ensuring a smooth and comfortable travel experience for passengers. These special train services will connect major destinations across the country, with routes covering Delhi, New Delhi, Anand Vihar Terminal, Patna, Chhapra, Jogwani, Saharsa, Jaynagar, Katihar, Guwahati, Darbhanga, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Barauni, Raxaul, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Lucknow, Kolkata, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Amritsar, Saharanpur, and Ambala, among others.
To maintain order and streamline passenger boarding, crowd control measures, including forming queues at terminus stations and deploying RPF (Railway Protection Force) staff, have been implemented. Additional RPF personnel have been stationed at major stations to ensure the security of passengers.
Northern Railway remains committed to providing a comfortable, smooth, and secure journey for its passengers during the Pooja festival.
