| BJP sympathizes with striking Home Guards | | Arora visits dharna site, assures party’s support | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, FEB 5: BJP State Spokesperson Ramesh Arora along with some other senior leaders of the party today visited the dharna site of Home Guards who are demanding regularization and absorption in government service on permanent basis. They remained at dharna site along with the protestors for over an hour. Arora regretted though the protest is continuing for the last two years and despite assurances from the leaders nothing concrete was being done to address the genuine problems of the protestors. He assured the protestors that the matter would be taken up in the forthcoming assembly session and BJP will take it seriously because the government has advertised creation of new company and have not formulated any policy to absorb the persons who are already in service. He said if other states can develop a system of separate recruitment for Home-Guards why the persons approximately 2000 in number is made to suffer and even many of them are over aged now. He demanded relaxation in age and qualification for adjusting and absorbing all of them as they are made to work by just paying them the consolidated salary of Rs.400 per month. Arora further assured that they will take up their genuine demands with the high ups in administration and political circles and in case their grievances are not met properly, BJP will make it an issue for agitation and will leave no stone unturned to get justice for persons / youths who are fighting for years together.
