JAMMU, Oct 20: Government Degree College Kunjwani recently observed Sir Syed Day with great enthusiasm and reverence. The day-long program was dedicated to commemorating the legacy and contributions of the eminent Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, a visionary who played a pivotal role in the educational reform and empowerment of the masses.
The highlight of the event was the insightful presidential address by the college's Principal, Dr. Ravender Kumar Tickoo. Dr. Tickoo underscored the urgent need for educational reforms in contemporary times and encouraged students to follow in the footsteps of Sir Syed, emphasizing the role of education in personal and societal growth.
Dr. Arti Pandoh Gupta, from the Department of Physics, extended a warm welcome to all the participants, emphasizing the significance of the day in honoring the memory of Sir Syed.
The program commenced with the National Anthem and Tarana e Syed, setting the stage for a day filled with inspiration and reflection. Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Wani, a renowned scholar and former Head of the Department of Urdu at BGSBU, served as the Guest of Honor and delivered an enlightening speech. His words highlighted Sir Syed's belief that education is the key to empowerment and his pioneering efforts to make Western knowledge accessible to Indians in their own language, a message that remains highly relevant in today's context.
The students of Government Degree College Kunjwani participated with great enthusiasm, demonstrating the deep respect they hold for Sir Syed's vision and legacy.
