Early Times Report
RAMNAGAR, Oct 20: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit-Prabha of Government Degree College Ramgarh orchestrated a symposium on the auspicious occasion of 'Khadi Mahotsav.' The event revolved around the theme 'Khadi and its Benefits' and was conducted in alignment with the 'Atma Nirbhar Bharat' and 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' initiatives. This program was executed under the astute guidance and leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, the Principal of the College.
The Principal of the college commenced the symposium by enlightening the students about the versatility and merits of Khadi clothing. She emphasized that Khadi garments are suitable for all seasons, offering warmth in winter and cool comfort in summer. Khadi is renowned for being gentle on the skin, causing no allergies or irritations, a common concern with synthetic fabrics. It was highlighted that Khadi is meticulously crafted by hand, including its dyes and weaves. This sustainable and stylish fabric is not only ideal for traditional Indian clothing but can also be fashioned into modern styles. Beyond its comfort and fashion, Khadi carries a rich cultural significance and supports local artisans, contributing to self-reliance.
The symposium was hosted by Tamana Attri and Alisha Meenia from BA Semester-III. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from a substantial number of college students who expressed their views on Khadi and its advantages. The symposium results saw Chahat Tidyal from BA Semester-I securing the first position, followed by Bhoomika Sharma of BA Semester-I in the second position, and Diya Devi from BA Semester-I clinching the third position. The judging panel for the event consisted of Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Prof. Sandeep Kumari, and Dr. Shamsher Lal. The entire event was impeccably coordinated by Dr. Shamsher Lal, the Programme Officer for NSS. Other esteemed faculty members present during the symposium included Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Prof. Sandeep Kumari, Dr. Shamsher Lal, Prof. Risha Kumari, Dr. Ekta Rani, Dr. Shivali Choudhary, and Dr. Paramjeet Kour. The symposium on 'Khadi and its Benefits' served as a platform to educate and inspire students about the cultural significance, comfort, and sustainability of Khadi fabric. It also encouraged students to support local artisans and promote self-reliance, aligning with the ethos of 'Atma Nirbhar Bharat.'
