Police cracks mysterious death case of Jyoti Devi in Ramgarh
10/20/2023 10:22:37 PM
Early Times Report
SAMBA, Oct 20: In a swift and determined effort led by Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Benam Tosh, the Samba Police has successfully unraveled the mystery behind the tragic death of Jyoti Devi, a young pregnant woman from Redwan Ramgarh. Five individuals, including the victim's husband, have been apprehended for their involvement in a dowry death case.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Kala Ram, the husband of the deceased, along with Satpal, Bodh Raj (also known as Parshotam), and two additional individuals.
The case began on June 22, 2023, when the Police Station Ramgarh initiated inquest proceedings under DDR No. 21 to determine the actual cause of death of 24-year-old Jyoti Devi, wife of Kala Ram, and a resident of Redwan in the Ramgarh tehsil of Samba district. The young woman was eight months pregnant at the time and had passed away under mysterious circumstances. The investigation was conducted with the utmost professionalism, encompassing the collection of scientific, documentary, and oral evidence. It was concluded that her death was a result of dowry-related cruelty and harassment inflicted on her by the accused shortly before her untimely demise.
The Police acted promptly by converting the inquest proceedings into FIR No. 69/2023 under sections 304-B and 313 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The investigation is currently underway, with the arrest of five suspects.
The dedicated police team, comprising SHO of the Ramgarh Police Station, Amit Kumar, and PSI Deepak Sharma, operated under the supervision of SDPO Vijaypur Rohit Kumar and Additional SP Samba, Surinder Choudhary.
SSP Samba, Benam Tosh, emphasized that the Samba Police is committed to expeditiously solving mysterious death cases in the region, bringing the perpetrators of abetment to suicide, dowry deaths, domestic violence, harassment, and torture to justice.
