Hospital at Chowki Chowra to treat accident cases soon: Sham

JAMMU, FEB 5: In order to provide immediate medicare to the accident victims on the Highway, Government would establish a hospital for their treatment at Chowki Chowra, Akhnoor, soon.
This was disclosed by Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma at Chowki Chowra in Akhnoor today. He toured the area to personally select a suitable site for the purpose.
The area between Akhnoor and Sunderbani is accident-prone and all accident-related cases are presently being referred to GMC, Jammu or District hospital, Rajouri for specialized treatment, which involves lot of time to handle the emergencies and on some occasions when the patients are being shifted, they lose their lives.
The Minister apprised that land has been identified near PHC, Chowki Chowra and instructions have been issued to the concerned authorities for completing the formalities at the earliest so that follow up process is started on the project.
Stating that health sector is a top priority for the government, the Minister added that health infrastructure in rural areas would be strengthened. He said all PHCs/Dispensaries would be equipped with modern gadgets for specialized treatment so that pressure on GMC, Jammu and district hospitals could be reduced.
Sharma maintained that a survey would be conducted in rural areas to ascertain the medicare facilities available to people. The feedback would be examined and remedial measures including establishment of new Sub-Centres, up-gradation of present Health Centres as per the population growth would be taken accordingly so that people could avail the best medicare facilities in rural areas, he added.
The Minister also presided over an annual day function at Government Higher Secondary School, Chowki Chowra.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that teachers should inculcate a sense of responsibility among the children, besides academic curricular and prepare them to compete at global-level as per the latest trends. He also asked the parents to provide higher education to their wards, especially the girl child so that they can stand on their own feet and serve the society with vigor.
The children presented colorful cultural items, which were highly appreciated by the audience. The Minister distributed prizes amongst the students who excelled in different fields.
Among those present on the occasion included, Director, Health Services, Jammu, Dr. Jasbir Singh, Director, Horticulture, Jammu, J. L.Sharma, Chief Medical Officer, Jammu, Dr. Shaheed Mughal, Principal Government Higher Secondary School, Chowki Chowra Dalip Singh, Executive Engineer, R&B, D. D. Gurka, schoolchildren of various schools and prominent citizens of the area.
Later, the Minister also visited SMGS Hospital, Jammu to enquire about the health of schoolchildren who were hospitalized in connection with some giddiness due to foul smell of an uncovered manhole.
He was apprised by the doctors that most of the children have been discharged after treatment and two children where in the hospital whose condition was stable and are likely to be discharged in the late hours, the doctors informed the Minster.
Sharma also interacted with the senior doctors of GMC informally about the facilities available for the patients. He also interacted with the admitted children and other patients in the hospital and wished them speedy recovery.
