Govt hospitals hub of medical talent; must be known for affordability, accessibility, approachability: DDC Jammu

JAMMU, Oct 20: ‘Government hospitals are a hub of talented and doctors and therefore must be renowned for their affordability, accessibility and approachability, serving the best interests of the public.’
The was stated by District Development Commissioner, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, during a meeting of the governing body of the Rogi Kalayan Samiti of the Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar.
During the meeting, Medical Superintendent and Vice Chairman RKS, Dr. Parveen Yograj, presented the agenda and delivered a presentation on the hospital’s initiatives aimed at improving patient care.
The members were also informed about the hospital’s achievements and steps taken to enhance its operational efficiency.
DDC, who also serves as the Chairman of the RKS, emphasised the need for intersectoral coordination among all RKS members to ensure the smooth functioning of the hospital.
He urged doctors to prescribe affordable Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra drugs.
Approval for post facto sanctions regarding procurement, repairs and minor works executed from April 2023 to September 2023 was granted by DDC. Budgets, issues and requirements were thoroughly discussed during the meeting.
Patient facilities and related issues, including the availability of medicines and subsidies, were also on the agenda.
The DDC called for surprise checks to address any shortcomings and enforce penalties when necessary. He also encouraged the hospital administration to take proactive steps and exercise prudence in improving patient facilities.
Members present at the meeting included CMO Jammu, Dr. Harbaksh Singh; Sr. Most Consultant, Dr. Sanjeev Gupta (Pead); ADMO Jammu; officers from various departments, including PDD, PHE, PWD; Corporater W-21, Bhanu Mahajan; NGO representative, Ruchi Chouhan; Matron, Lakshi Kapoor; Mohd Nadeem (Community Health Officer); PO ICDS, Renu Kumari; and other staff members from the hospital.
