| Budget session to be of short duration | | | Early Times Report Jammu: The first session of the State Legislature, to be held from 25 February, is likely to be of short duration in view of the likely imposition of Model Code of Conduct by the election Commission of India for Lok Sabha elections. While the decision about the duration of the session would be taken after the meeting of Business Advisory Committee (BAC), sources said that it will be of a short period. Sources said that ECI is likely to impose Model Code of Conduct in the state on March 10 and state government is legally bound to adhere to it. The State Cabinet which met yesterday with the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah in the chair, decided that the session of the State Legislature will be convened from February 25. Part from the decision on the duration, there was no indication on the presentation of a full budget or taking the vote-on-account. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and minister for Law, Abdul Rahim Rather are meeting planning commission on 8 February and on the next day, on 9th February state officials to finalize the state plan and any decision on full budget or vote-on-account would be taken after the meeting. Authoritative sources said that government would go for a vote-on-account as Member Legislative Assembly and Member Legislative Council are likely to get busy in election campaign.
