| "PTTI pays tribute to police martyrs | | | Early Times Report
VIJAYPUR, Oct 21: The Police Technical Training Institute (PTTI) in Vijaypur observed National Police Day on October 21, 2023, to honor and remember the valiant police martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice for the security and sovereignty of our nation. The occasion witnessed the participation of police contingents in the Commemoration Day Parade. Speaking on this solemn occasion, Shiv Kumar, an IPS officer and the Principal of PTTI Vijaypur, provided insight into the history of National Police Day. He recounted the tragic incident of October 21, 1959 when the Chinese army attacked a patrolling police party from the Central Police Force, led by Sub-Inspector Karan Singh, along the Indo-Tibetan border. The police party exhibited immense bravery, with 10 police personnel losing their lives and 10 others sustaining injuries in the line of duty. Since that fateful incident, Police Commemoration Day is observed annually across the country in memory of these police martyrs. Notably, National Police Day has been observed since 2006.
