GDC Vijaypur holds Amrit Kalash Yatra

VIJAYPUR, Oct 21: As part of the ongoing nationwide campaign "Meri Maati Mera Desh," the NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) of Govt. Degree College, Vijaypur, organized an "Amrit Kalash Yatra" from the college to the BDO Office in Vijaypur. This event saw active participation from NSS volunteers and other college students who came together with great zeal and enthusiasm to celebrate India's Independence.
The primary objective of the event was to kindle the spirit of patriotism and instill an unwavering love for the motherland in every student and faculty member of the college. Faculty members, including both teaching and non-teaching staff, NSS volunteers, and other college students, contributed soil and rice collected from various localities to fill the college's "Amrit Kalash." Subsequently, an Amrit Kalash Yatra commenced from the college campus and proceeded to the BDO Office in Vijaypur, where it concluded with the presentation of the Amrit Kalash to the BDO Officer.
The entire program was executed under the able guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Gupta, the esteemed Principal of the College. Addressing the participants, she highlighted the significance of the event as a valuable opportunity for students to connect with India's rich cultural heritage. She emphasized that it is the responsibility of the younger generation to preserve and cherish this heritage. The Yatra was coordinated by Dr. Naseem Chowdhary, the NSS Program Officer, and Prof. Poonam Kundan, the Head of the Department of Environmental Sciences. Prof. Renuka Kundan, Lecturer in Political Science, Dr. Shallu Sharma, Lecturer in Dogri, and Dr. Pooja Gupta, Lecturer in Commerce, also played vital roles in coordinating the event.
