Early Times Report
RAMGARH, Oct 21: Government Degree College Ramgarh marked a significant step in its contribution to 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsava' by establishing a herbal garden, on its premises. The event was orchestrated by the college's Eco-Club, operating under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, the Principal of the College.
During the event, Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra expressed the importance of preserving and utilizing medicinal plants. She highlighted the natural abundance of medicinal plants, signifying a repository of traditional knowledge and plant diversity. Medicinal plants have been an integral part of folk medicine, being readily available and effective. Prof. Andotra stressed the need for regular awareness programs to educate students and the community about the significance of medicinal herbs. These plants are not only valuable for treating human diseases but also for animal health.
Prof. Risha Kumari, the Convener of the Eco-Club at the college, elaborated on the role of medicinal plants. She explained how these plants are deeply integrated with medicines, serving a wide range of health and beauty purposes. Herb gardens are dedicated spaces within gardens where specific groups of plants, often referred to as herbs or medicinal plants, are cultivated.
Furthermore, Dr. Sandeep Kumar enlightened the students about the benefits and applications of the plants they were planting within the college premises.
Both faculty members and students of the college enthusiastically participated in the event by planting medicinal plants in the college's designated herbal garden. This initiative not only serves as a symbol of the country's rich heritage and traditional knowledge but also underscores the practical importance of preserving and utilizing medicinal plants for the well-being of humans and animals alike. It aligns with the spirit of 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsava' by promoting awareness and education in a meaningful manner.
