Government Polytechnic Jammu hosts seminar

JAMMU, Oct 21: Government Polytechnic Jammu organized a seminar with the theme "Job Opportunities for Diploma Engineers." The event aimed to inform final-year students about the evolving technologies and the importance of continuous learning and skill development in the modern professional landscape. Commodore (Cmde) Naresh Kumar IN (Rtd) VSM served as the resource person for the seminar. Er. Arun Bangotra, the Principal of Government Polytechnic Jammu, extended a warm welcome to the speaker and underscored the significance of acquiring industry-relevant skills to adapt to the changing engineering landscape, particularly in the context of Industry 4.0, for improved employment prospects.
Cmde Naresh Kumar, in his address to the students, emphasized the growth of engineering education and shared his extensive 33-year career in the Indian Navy. He had been part of important projects such as indigenous Sonar Development at DRDO and the development of Command and Control Systems for naval ships. Cmde Naresh Kumar is also involved with "Youth for Nation," a program that aims to mentor young individuals in schools and universities, preparing them to contribute to the vision of AatmaNirbhar Bharat (Self-reliant India).
He described engineers as pivotal players in nation-building and highlighted their role as the nation's most valuable asset for progress. Cmde Naresh Kumar enlightened the students about various job opportunities in the defense and aerospace sectors, and he discussed emerging trends in areas such as AI, Data Science, Robotics, and Green Energy. The seminar concluded with a call to action, urging the youth to actively participate in nation-building efforts and national missions by leveraging their acquired skills.
The event was coordinated by Er. Sukhdeep Singh, Head of the Civil Engineering Department, Er. Sakshi Kapahi, Lecturer in I&C, Er. Ritish Gupta, and Er. Akash Dusgotra, Workshop Instructor. This seminar serves as a valuable platform for students to gain insights into potential career paths and emerging technologies, preparing them for a successful transition from diploma education to the professional world.
