3rd U-13 invitational cricket tournament commences at Pinegrove School

DHARAMPUR, Oct 23: The 3rd U-13 Invitational Cricket Tournament for Boys kicked off with great enthusiasm on the 22nd of October, 2023, at Pinegrove School, Dharampur. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. C. Paulrasu, IAS, Secretary of Horticulture, Government of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla, who served as the Chief Guest for the Opening Ceremony.
This prestigious tournament features participation from six elite schools across India, making it a remarkable platform for young cricketing talents. The participating schools include Bishop Cotton School, Shimla; Mayo College, Ajmer; The Punjab Public School, Nabha; Army Public School, Dagshai; The Lawrence School, Sanawar; and the host school, Pinegrove School, Solan.
The event commenced with an oath-taking ceremony conducted by the Sports Prefect, Deepak Thakur. This ceremonial commitment to fair play and sportsmanship was followed by a captivating performance by the school’s girls’ pipe band and the boys’ brass band.
The opening match of the tournament showcased a thrilling encounter between the host school, Pinegrove School, and Mayo College, Ajmer. Pinegrove School won the toss and chose to bat first, posting a formidable target of 132 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 20 overs. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as Pinegrove School secured a resounding victory, defeating Mayo College, Ajmer, by a margin of 72 runs.
The tournament promises to be a showcase of emerging cricket talent and a celebration of sportsmanship among the youth. With the participation of elite schools and the enthusiastic support of cricket enthusiasts, the 3rd U-13 Invitational Cricket Tournament is set to be an exciting and memorable event in the world of school-level cricket.
