Jammu Tawi Rly Station to undergo transformation under Amrit Bharat Scheme

JAMMU, Oct 23: In a significant development, the Indian Railways has embarked on a transformative journey to enhance safety, accessibility and sustainability at Jammu Tawi Station, one of the 508 stations currently under renovation in the first phase of the Amrit Bharat Scheme. This initiative aims to revamp 1308 railway stations across India, providing passengers with a hassle-free and contemporary travel experience while fostering sustainability and vibrancy.
Under the aegis of the Northern Railway, Jammu Tawi Station, situated in the Firozpur division, has been allocated a substantial budget of 259 crores for its redevelopment. The comprehensive plan encompasses multiple facets of infrastructure enhancement to create a modern and eco-friendly transportation hub.The station will be designed in accordance with 4-star rated green building norms, promoting sustainability and energy efficiency. Upgrades include water supply, drainage, sewerage, Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), Water Treatment Plant (WTP), RO, and Mechanical and Engineering Plumbing works (MEP) to ensure efficient utility services.Advanced fire-fighting systems will be implemented to enhance the safety of the station buildings. The station's electrical infrastructure, including STP, substation, transformers, and Signaling and Telecommunications, will be reinforced to improve operational efficiency. Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) improvements will be made in certain areas to ensure proper ventilation and passenger comfort. The installation of lifts and escalators will facilitate smoother passenger movement within the station.The station's external infrastructure, including roads and parking areas, will be revamped to enhance commuter-friendliness. Installation of IT services, such as LAN, IP-based EPABX, and Wi-Fi, will bring Jammu Tawi Station into the digital age, providing passengers with seamless connectivity. The deployment of CCTV cameras will ensure the utmost security for passengers.
The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is a testament to the Indian Railways' commitment to improving accessibility, safety, and sustainability while creating dynamic transportation hubs. This initiative aims to provide unfettered infrastructure for all passengers, enhance security, promote diversity, and adopt eco-friendly practices, ultimately revolutionizing the way people travel. The transformation of Jammu Tawi Station is just one example of the Railways' dedication to ensuring a bright and efficient future for India's railway network.
