Badalta Khilta J&K: DC B’la chairs review meeting for National Unity Day preparations

BARAMULLA, Oct 25: In order to review the arrangements for celebration of the National Unity Day, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar today chaired a meeting of concerned officers in her office chamber here to take stock of various necessary measures for its smooth celebration.
On the occasion, a threadbare discussion was held for ensuring the arrangements to be put in place for commemorating the National Unity Day to be celebrated on 31st October, and showcasing the positive transformations that have taken place in the district since the transition of state J&K into a Union Territory. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sehrish stressed upon the concerned officers to work with coordination and cohesion to ensure smooth conduct of the event. Each department was hence entrusted with specific responsibilities to ensure the seamless celebrations on this special occasion. The DC instructed the School Education Department to engage students in the celebrations and host cultural events, including debates, and quizzes. The Police Department was entrusted to arrange a march past on the occasion amidst the police band representative of Unity in Diversity, while Sports Department was directed to plan for a five day donation and plantation drive across the district and hold a major rally with a theme ‘Run for Unity’.
Later, the DC also took stock of the preparation for the Public Darbar to be held in the district by Shailendra Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Government, Public Works (R&B) on 31st October and other forthcoming events in the district.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Aijaz Abdullah Saraf; Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Raina; Joint Director Planning, M. Yousuf Rather and other district officers.
