Jammu, Oct 26: The BJP Mahila Morcha in Jammu and Kashmir celebrated Accession Day with great enthusiasm and reverence at the Maharaja Hari Singh Statue at Tawi Bridge. The occasion was marked by paying tribute to the significant contributions of Maharaja Hari Singh in the integration of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of India. Kavinder Gupta, former Deputy Chief Minister, highlighted the pivotal role played by Maharaja Hari Singh in connecting Jammu and Kashmir with the Indian Union.
He praised the Maharaja for his historic decision to sign the Instrument of Accession, an act that forever linked the region with India.
Kavinder emphasized the deep gratitude of the people of the Jammu region to Maharaja Hari Singh for his vital role in the nation’s history. He also noted that despite the Maharaja’s crucial contributions, successive governments had regrettably failed to adequately honor his memory and legacy. Kavinder Gupta attributed the present free atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir to the vision of Maharaja Hari Singh. He further highlighted that the current government, led by Prime Minister Modi, has strengthened both J&K and the nation.
Sanjita Dogra, State President of Mahila Morcha, emphasized the significance of the day, likening it to Republic Day and Independence Day. She recognized the supreme sacrifices made by nationalist forces in the erstwhile state of J&K. Sanjita Dogra stated that the Instrument of Accession, signed by Maharaja Hari Singh, was full and final, uniting the entire region with the rest of India.
Munish Sharma, All Morcha Prabhari, recalled the important role played by Maharaja Hari Singh during the unification of J&K with the Dominion of India. He also pointed out the negative role of the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and Sheikh Abdullah in those events.
Other speakers at the event included Anuradha Charak, State Vice President and Prabhari Mahila Morcha, as well as Parmod Kapahi.
During the celebration, BJP Mahila Morcha activists participated with great fervor by lighting earthen lamps and candles in front of the statue of Maharaja Hari Singh. Prominent figures in attendance included Senior Leader Rajeev Charak, Seh Prabhari Mahila Morcha Veenu Khanna, Anita Gandotra, Reema Padha, Neha Mahajan, Neeru Anand, Prerna Nanda, Vaishno Devi, Usha Rajput, Monika Khosla, Savita Anand, and others.
