Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation appreciates Government efforts, highlights key issues

Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 26: The Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation, led by Sh. Sushil Sudan, President and member of the Pharmacy Council of India, commended the work of Lieutenant Governor Sh. Manoj Sinha and Dr. Arun Mehta, Chief Secretary, for their efforts in advancing infrastructure development and digitalization of government services in the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory. At a press briefing today, the Federation also raised critical concerns faced by healthcare employees in the region.
The Federation called for the urgent and permanent resolution of the long-standing issue of delayed salaries for female multipurpose health workers and other staff. They urged the government to disburse salaries to permanent health employees working under the 2211 head from the state coffer, following the reimbursement schemes adopted by other states. The Federation emphasized the importance of timely disbursement of the general provident fund (GP fund) and other dues within 15 days after the superannuation of government employees. This, they argued, would enable retired employees to meet their social and domestic obligations without delay. Additionally, they proposed shifting the GP fund to JK Bank for improved management.
While applauding recent government orders for the reallocation of employees with five years of service at a particular place of posting, the Federation requested special consideration for terminally ill employees and those nearing superannuation during such reassignments.
The Federation urged the government to consider reinstating the old pension scheme at the earliest.
In a new addition, the Federation also called for a change in the nomenclature of Pharmacists to Pharmacy Officers, mirroring the practice in Haryana State.
Sushil Sudan extended full support to the joint action forum program scheduled for November 4, 2023, and encouraged healthcare employees to participate in mass actions to seek solutions for their demands.
The press briefing saw the participation of various members, including Parfulat Singh, Bharat Bhushan Bhagat, Jaswinder Singh, Shaffkat Hussain Sheikh, Bahadur Singh, Tajinder Singh, Sunil Chauhan, Madan Sharma, Kulwant Singh, Saurav Bakshi, Ashwani Kumar Gupta, Sultan Mohd, Rajinder Sharma, Lawrance Mashi, Onkar Singh, Tarseem Sharma, Manoj Gupta, Ajeet Choudhary, Daleep Choudhary, and Surjeet Rajan.
