Samba, Oct 26: The Samba Police, under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba, Benam Tosh, have initiated a crackdown on individuals receiving or retaining stolen property dishonestly. Pyara Lal, son of Sant Ram, resident of Chatroo Chingam, Kishtwar, and present at Telli Basti, Bari Brahmana.
Mukesh Kumar, son of Bishamber Dass, resident of Mandi Pushwalian, and presently at Rakh Amb Talli, Samba.
Abhinash, resident of Samba.
Three separate cases have been registered as follows:

Case FIR No.251/2023 under sections 457 and 380 of the IPC.
Case FIR No.246/2023 under section 379 of the IPC.
These actions were carried out by police teams led by SHO of the Police Station Samba, Daljit Singh, SHO of the Police Station Bari Brahmana, Sumit Sharma, and PSI Davinder Singh, all under the supervision of DySP Garu Ram, SDPO Rahul Nagar, and Additional SP Samba, Surinder Choudhary. SSP Benam Tosh emphasized that receiving or retaining stolen property dishonestly, with knowledge or reason to believe that it is stolen property, is a punishable offense under the law, and it can lead to imprisonment, fines, or both.
The police have the authority to arrest individuals involved in such activities without a warrant.
The public is encouraged to promptly inform the police if they come across individuals offering to sell expensive items at significantly lower rates, as this may be indicative of stolen property being circulated in the community.
