Jammu, Oct 28: The Department of Dogri organized an enlightening seminar under the capable guidance of the college’s Principal, Dr. Meeru Abrol. The seminar aimed to raise awareness about the importance of cleanliness and hygiene. Twenty students actively participated in the seminar, with the topic of discussion being “Gandhian Thoughts and Sanitation.”
The Swachh Bharat mission, also known as the Bharat Abhiyan or the Clean India mission, is a national initiative launched by the Indian government in 2014. Its primary goal is to eliminate open defecation and enhance solid waste management practices. The mission is a significant step towards achieving a cleaner and more hygienic India, and it sets ambitious objectives, including the construction of sanitary infrastructure for every household.
During the seminar, Dr. Meeru Abrol, the college’s Principal, emphasized the importance of incorporating cleanliness into daily habits. She highlighted that unhygienic practices and a lack of cleanliness can lead to various diseases. Dr. Abrol encouraged students to cultivate sensitivity and awareness about their surroundings.
Professor Kajal Samyal delivered a lecture during the event, emphasizing the transformative potential of the Clean India Mission, particularly in rural areas. As the mission focuses on rural regions, it has the potential to enhance the quality of life for people living in these areas by providing access to improved sanitation facilities.
The students participated in the seminar with great enthusiasm, demonstrating their commitment to promoting cleanliness and hygiene in their communities.
