Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 6- Rich tributes were paid to late Tilak Raj Sharma, advocate, at a Shradhanjali Sabha, held at Brahman Sabha here today. People cutting across party lines and a cross section of the society remembered late Sharma for his life long struggle for the people of Jammu. Recalling his contribution, the speakers said that late Sharma joined 1952-53 agitation for Ek Nishan, Ek Vidhan, and Ek Pradhan while as student he went on hunger strike with other students for over forty days. Later, after completing his Master’s in Hindi and English got B. Ed degree to his credit and joined Sanatan Dharam Sabha where he taught for a long and after that he became whole timer for RSS and worked in various capacities. He looked after organizational work of the then Jana Sangh in Himachal-Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. He worked as President Vishwa Hindu Parishad Jammu and Kashmir and later was convenor Jammu State Morcha. Late, Sharma had led a contingent of Satyagrahis for Goa Freedom from Jammu during Goa Mukhti Andholan for which he has been honoured as Swatantra Senani. Speakers spoke at length about the life that Late Sharma lived till last, a simple man, who had no aptitude to build empires for him and his family. A simple dedicated soldier, he remained till his end. Leaders in their tributes opined that accomplishment of the agreement reached between Government and Sangrash Samiti would be a real tribute to the departed leader. Messages received from various personalities including former Prime Minister, A.B.Vajpayee, Former Governor, Goa Kidar Nath Sahani, Raj Nath Singh, Governor N.N. Vohra and others were read out on the occasion. Those who paid tributes included, Brigadier Suchet Singh, Leela Karan Sharma, Dr. Narinder Singh, Sunil Sethi, Dr. Om Prakash Mengi, former Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma, Dev Raj Baru, Kavinder Gupta, Bal Raj Puri, Yash Bhasin, Amar Nath Gupta, Justice (retd) G.D. Sharma, Onkar Nath Kak, Rama Kant Dubey, Janki Nath Jigyasu, Dhan Raj Balgotra, Aslam Quarashi and Ramesh Arora.
