| Natrang launches new play 'Crazy Kiya Ray' | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 6- Narang's new play 'Crazy Kiya Ray' written and directed by Sumeet Sharma, was staged at Abhinav Theatre, here today. The jam-packed audience, majority of which comprised youth, enjoyed thoroughly this new concept of performance by Natrang. Earlier, welcoming the guests Natrang Director Balwant Thakur said that 'Crazy Kiya Ray' is the outcome of Natrang's new initiative of encouraging young talent in direction and play production by providing them creative liberty and resources to experiment new possibilities in theatre. The play revolves around the story of a young boy 'Aashu' who is a victim of his own complexes. His friends further add to his complex by boasting of girl-friends, dating, parties and ultra life style. In quest of competing with his colleagues he takes refuse of a Love Guru who exploits him to the fullest. To make him charming, smart, attractive, cool and ultra-modern, he takes him to multiple experts including a fortune teller, fashion designer, body builder, mind reader and a speech therapist. In this attempt to be different and to create an out of the world look, he looses his originality and instead transform to a fake, unpleasing and an artificial personality, not suiting to the people he wanted to win-over. The play is a big satire on the youth today who are loosing their prime time and hard earned money of the parents in a highly futile exercise. Sensing their weaknesses and complexes, lot many shops have made their entry in the new order of consumerism. Be it fashion, body building, speech therapies, finishing classes, or supernatural empowering devices, all are shown making best of the direction less young people by exploiting their complexes. Finally, Aashu realizes that one should live in his own realities without loosing focus on the career and the mission of life. Sumeet Sharma who conceived, directed and acted the central character of the play 'Aashu' successfully accomplished his mission to mirror the wrong doings of young life. He dared to create a new original performance and that too in his own style and form on which he is working successfully since last five years. One more good production has been added to his credit after the successful presentation of 'Mind Games and 'Gifti'. The young actors who supported Sumeet in creating this wonderful performance included Mohit Sharma (Love-Guru), Taasvi Sharma (Monika), Divya Kohli ( Priya), Rohit Verma (Lucky) Hemant Bholla (MS Dhongi) Bipin Gupta (Karan Johar Khajuria), Mohammed Yaseen (Saka) Gaurav Jamwal (Dr. Malhotra) Rahul Singh (Rahul Lalotra, Pooja Sharma (Payal) Anita Dhar (Tannu) and Vijay Kaul (Lover-Boy) The lights were designed and executed by Anil Tickoo and the show was anchored by Naveen Chopra.
