MVD Reasi takes tough action against overcharging, challanes 55 vehicles, and imposes fine of Rs 53,500 on violators

REASI, Oct 29: In response to public complaints regarding overcharging by some vehicles, the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) in Reasi conducted an enforcement drive. During this drive, they challaned 55 vehicles and imposed fines totaling Rs 53,500 on the spot.
A team from the Motor Vehicle Department Reasi, led by ARTO Tara Mani Sharma, along with an MVI and SMVI, conducted this enforcement drive in various locations in District Reasi, including Jyotipuram, Salal, and Katra. The primary focus was on overcharging and unauthorized plying of autos without proper documentation. During the drive, the team inspected 83 vehicles, including dumpers, tempos, trucks, and autos, and took action against 55 of them. Officials reported that Rs 53,500 in cash was collected from compounded challans issued for various violations in accordance with the Motor Vehicle Act.
ARTO Tara Mani Sharma stated that the MVD Reasi successfully concluded its enforcement drive in different parts of District Reasi. A total fine amount of Rs 125,000 is expected to be realized from various challans. In addition, they seized one tempo and three autos under section 207 of the Motor Vehicle Act.
