| ‘VIRASAT 2009’: Nowshera cultural festival concludes | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 6- ‘VIRASAT 2009’, Nowshera Cultural Festival concluded today at Kalsiyan, a tiny hamlet close to the borders in Nowshera. This event was organized by Dashmesh Paltan of Stealth Warrior Brigade from January 21. As a sequel to VIRASAT 2007, present cultural event was organized in the border village of Kalsiyan in which approximately 85 schools, colleges, cultural societies and clubs participated. Almost 1250 participants displayed their talent and all of them were felicitated by the organizers. Each participant was given a certificate of participation and almost 50 schools and colleges were presented a trophy. As many as 300 children were also presented a trophy and medals along with a certificate for being adjudged as ‘The Most Talented’. Besides, a large gathering of locals, the event was witnessed by a large number of Army and civil officers. Amongst the circles of the intellectuals and the senior citizens, participation of the masses in the event is now being perceived as their defiance to the threat by terrorist outfits and antinational elements involved in disturbing the peace. General Officer Commanding Dah Division, who was the chief guest for the grand finale, expressed his satisfaction and happiness at the sheer magnitude of participation and involvement by masses and complimented DAH Division’s genuine effort in providing a forum for the youth to interact and learn from each other and the professionals in the field. Speaking on the occasion Major General SKH Johnson, General Officer Commanding of Dah Division, also hoped that the bonhomie between the civil populace and army would definitely be a stepping stone for ushering peace and prosperity in the region. The enthusiasm displayed by the locals including schools and artists was overwhelming. The civil administration fully backed the endeavor and their whole hearted participation ensured the festival was a grandeur success. It would be worth mentioning that large number of civil dignitaries who were present for the function felt that VIRASAT 2009 will always be remembered by locals of the region as an unforgettable event. They were praiseworthy of the level and quality of the event and felt that events of this kind not only provide an ideal platform for local talent but also kindle a cultural awakening.
