DC discusses action plan for implementation of PM Vishwakarma Yojana in Kathua

KATHUA, Oct 29: The maiden meeting of District Implementation Committee was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rakesh Minhas wherein modalities were discussed for smooth implementation of PM Vishwakarma scheme in the district.
At the outset, a virtual lecture by a resource person from MSME Assistant Director Davendra Tyagi was held who gave a brief overview of the scheme and also informed the committee members about the objectives of the scheme.
Besides elaborating the Scope of the PM Vishwakarma scheme, which primarily capacitates artisans and craft people engaged in 18 different trades to improve their socio-economic conditions.
While speaking on the occasion, the DC said that this initiative is set to empower and provide invaluable support to the artisans and craftspeople, commonly known as Vishwakarma, who form a vital part of the informal or unorganised sector of the economy.
The DC further underscored the importance of conducting sensitisation and awareness camps to ensure that every eligible artisan and craftsman reaps the benefits of this transformative scheme.
The DC Directed DPO Kathua to facilitate enrolment of eligible artisans through Common Service Centre's (CSCs) verification of which will be done by stakeholder agencies.
AD Handloom was also directed to sensitise all craftsman communities to avail maximum benefits of the scheme, which is launched with the aim to give proper handholdings to the artisans.
GM DIC Prem Singh, AD Handloom and Handicraft, Principal Govt. Polytechnic College Kathua, DPO Kathua, EO MC Billawar, EO MC Parole, Superintendent ITI Kathua, and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
