Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 30: In a significant operation, the Akhnoor Police apprehended a woman, Parmeet Kour, on charges of selling illicit liquor (Desi liquor) from her residence in Goudhan village, Mandrian Tehsil, Akhnoor, District Jammu. The police's proactive response resulted in the seizure of 08 liters of illicit liquor from the accused's possession and the destruction of approximately 150 liters of lahan, a key ingredient in making such liquor.
Acting on credible information provided by reliable sources, the Akhnoor Police swiftly initiated action, registering Case FIR No. 286/2023 under the relevant sections of the Excise Act, including U/s 48-a and 48-f.
The operation was led by SHO Akhnoor, Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq, under the diligent supervision of SDPO Akhnoor, Mohan Lal Sharma. Their relentless efforts culminated in the successful apprehension of Parmeet Kour from her residence.
The discovery of 08 liters of illicit liquor in her possession emphasized the gravity of the illegal liquor trade, which poses a significant risk to public health and safety. Additionally, during the operation, the police uncovered approximately 150 liters of lahan, a precursor in the production of illicit liquor. Recognizing the dangers associated with this illicit activity, the police promptly destroyed the lahan on-site.
The investigation into this case is ongoing, as the authorities are determined to uncover any further links to the illicit liquor trade and bring the culprits to justice. The arrest of Parmeet Kour and the destruction of the lahan are significant steps in curbing the illegal sale and production of dangerous, unregulated liquor, ensuring the safety of the community.
