JAMMU, Oct 31: The NSS unit of GDC Sidhra, in collaboration with the Department of Political Science, organized a special lecture to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, celebrating it as National Unity Day. The event began with a lecture delivered by Dr. Harpreet Kour, Head of the Political Science Department, where she highlighted Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's significant contributions to the Indian freedom struggle. She also spoke about his instrumental role in peacefully integrating princely Indian states into the Indian Union and politically unifying the nation.
Dr. Kour emphasized the importance of 31st October as National Unity Day, known as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, as a tribute to the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Following the lecture, a documentary on the life and contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was screened, providing further insights into his remarkable journey.
The program concluded with all the students and faculty members of the college taking a pledge to uphold the principles of unity and to honor the memory of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The college's principal addressed the event, encouraging students to actively participate in National Unity Day and sharing his insights on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's pivotal role in the Indian independence movement.
This successful event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Dr. Mehmood Ahmed, NSS Program Officer, and Dr. Meesha Bhagat from the Department of Political Science, with coordination by Dr. Anu Sharma, Head of the Botany Department. |
