Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 31: The Department of Political Science, in collaboration with the Department of Physical Education, recently organized a Swachata campaign at [College Name] under the able guidance of the college's principal, Dr. Meeru Abrol. This initiative was in support of the Swachh Bharat mission, a government-led nationwide campaign aimed at promoting cleanliness and eliminating open defecation, initiated in 2014.
The Swachh Bharat mission, also known as the Bharat Abhiyan or Clean India mission, has a primary goal of improving solid waste management and building sanitary facilities for all households. With the main slogan being "One step towards cleanliness," it sets ambitious objectives to make India a cleaner and better nation.
The college's cleanliness drive aimed to engage students in this noble cause. More than 20 students actively participated in the campaign, which included waste collection and raising awareness about the importance of a clean and garbage-free environment.
Principal Dr. Meeru Abrol, a driving force behind the initiative, motivated and appreciated the students for their active participation. She encouraged them to continue their selfless service and be role models for others.
Dr. Vandana Sharma, who delivered a lecture during the event, emphasized that a clean and hygienic India is the mission to improve living conditions, especially in rural areas. As rural areas are the primary focus of this initiative, the quality of life for rural communities will greatly benefit from these efforts.
The entire program was successfully coordinated by Dr. Vandana Sharma from the Department of Political Science. The students' enthusiastic participation and commitment to the cause have made this cleanliness campaign a notable success.
