Early Times Report

Udhampur, Nov 1: In commemoration of “Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat” and as part of the “Badalta Jammu Kashmir, Badhta Jammu Kashmir, Taraqqui ki Nai Tasveer” series of events, Government Degree College (GDC) Udhampur proudly unveiled the eleventh volume of its college newsletter, ‘Devika.’ The release took place during a simple ceremony held at the college’s conference hall on the occasion of the Accession Day and Unity Day.
The distinguished event witnessed the presence of Sh. Susheel Khajuria, the Additional Secretary of Higher Education, Jammu & Kashmir Government, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Principal of the College and the patron of the Publication Cell warmly welcomed the Chief Guest and provided an overview of the latest edition of the Devika newsletter.
The eleventh volume of Devika newsletter showcased the college’s accomplishments, including its achievement of an NAAC B++ grade in the third cycle, the academic and research achievements of the faculty, and the various accolades and positions secured by the students in the past two years.
In his message during the event, Chief Guest Sh. Susheel Khajuria congratulated the Principal and the publication cell for their collective efforts in producing this informative document highlighting the college’s achievements. He expressed his belief that Devika would serve as an inspiration for both the faculty and students, offering a roadmap for envisioning and achieving future goals. He commended the efforts of the Editorial board and assured the full support of the Higher Education Department in enhancing the college’s academic, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities.
Following this, the Chief Guest, along with the Principal, officially released the Devika newsletter in the presence of the entire editorial board and senior faculty members. Dr. Pankaj Sharma, the chief editor of the newsletter, provided a brief overview of the contents and aspects covered in Devika.
As part of the event, a plantation drive for green initiatives was conducted, during which the Chief Guest planted a sapling in the college’s garden. This initiative was in line with the best practices initiated by the NCC Units of the College.
The program concluded with the felicitation of the Chief Guest, followed by the singing of the National Anthem, “Rashtra Gaan.”
