Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 1: Natrang Jammu is going to organise record 50 shows acclaimed film 'Gulab Gatha' in the entire Jammu region. This was disclosed here today by Natrang Director Balwant Thakur in a press briefing at Natrang Studio Theatre Jammu. Giving details he informed that with the support of Maharaja Gulab Singh Memorial Trust this show series of the film is being initiated. Aimed at educating the masses in general and the students community in particular about the creation of the largest princely state of India these shows are being held free of cost for the viewers. He further said that unfortunately local history and culture is not taught either at school or college level and this film is going to fill this huge gap to a larger extent.
The 50 show series is being opened from 2nd of November, 2023 at Government College for women, Udhampur and in this first schedule of shows the film will be screened on 4th November at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium Reasi in collaboration with District Administration, Reasi at 12 noon and 3 pm. On 7th of November, 2023 two shows were screened at the Auditorium of the college for women, Gandhi Nagar Jammu at 11 am and 12.30 pm. On 8th November, 2023 4 shows are being screened at the Auditorium of Government College for Women, Parade Jammu at 11 am, 12.15 pm, 1.30 pm, and 2.45 pm.
This current show series will culminate on 9th November at the iconic Moonlight Cinema, Kathua where the shows are being screened in collaboration with District administration, Kathua at 2.30 pm and 4 pm respectively.
It is pertinent to mention here that Dr. Karan Singh inspired Balwant Thakur to write, produce and direct this first ever film on the history of the great Dogra ruler who created the larger princely state of India. To make the younger generations aware of their rich past and also to sensitize them about the making of this state, Natrang with the help of Maharaja Gulab Singh Memorial Trust took this initiative to produce a film and now is being taken to every individual.
The film ‘Gulab Gatha’ is about the journey of a soldier who achieves great success at everything he initiated. His unquestionable obligatory obedience towards Lahore Durbar, his unconditional sacrifice and his conception of a kingdom has been regarded and given value in this. The greatness of leaders is not just in their works but in the way they have been appreciated and personified in the eyes of the people. Napoleon was a military and political hero of France and Alexander has been applauded for his greatness for his conquest. Gulab Singh as an emperor held the same qualities of being a courageous warrior. He was a normal person with no lineage of royalty but he established himself as a King with the help of his bravery and continued to keep a hold on his empire because of his well-planned strategic and diplomatic intelligence.
