Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 1: In a significant development, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch Jammu has submitted a comprehensive 190-page charge sheet in a case related to the fabrication of a fake contractor card and its illicit use in obtaining multiple government project allotments. The case, registered under FIR No. 84/2023 and invoking sections 420, 465, 468, 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC), and 471 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), was presented in the Court of Law. The accused individuals in this case are identified as follows: Rayaz Ahmed, a contractor, son of Kaka, resident of Mahore Tehsil & District, Reasi. Miraj-Ud-Din (now deceased), son of Haji Mohmd Yousaf, resident of Shajroo Tehsil Mahore, District Reasi. The case stems from an initial inquiry report and related documents provided by the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Jammu. The report revealed that the contractor card of Rayaz Ahmed, registered under the number PWD-J(R&B) AYY/72/2013-14, was not on record with the Chief Engineer of the PWD (R&B) Department in Jammu. Subsequently, it was discovered that this unauthorized card was used in securing government project allotments, including Allotment No. PWD/M/2021-22/4695-96, dated February 23, 2022. In response to the inquiry report, the Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch Jammu initiated a detailed investigation, leading to the identification of the primary culprits. Evidence collected during the course of the investigation, including oral testimonies, documentary proof, and circumstantial facts, established a prima facie case against the accused. The charges brought against Rayaz Ahmed and the late Miraj-Ud-Din include sections 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 465 (punishment for forgery), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 120-B (criminal conspiracy), RPC, and 471 (using a forged document as genuine), IPC. Rayaz Ahmed, the contractor, was taken into custody on October 31, 2023, and subsequently presented before the Hon'ble Court for judicial proceedings. The legal process is now underway to address the allegations against the accused and ensure justice is served in this case of fraud involving a fake contractor card. |
