"Indian Railways achieves 887.24 MT freight loading in October 2023

NEW DELHI, Nov 1: Indian Railways has achieved a significant milestone in freight transportation, loading a total of 887.24 million metric tons (MT) of goods until October 2023. This represents an increase of 31.6 MT compared to the same period in the previous year. During this time frame, Indian Railways earned a remarkable INR 95,929.30 Crores from freight loading, marking an increase of INR 3,584.03 Crores compared to the same period in the previous year.
In the month of October 2023 alone, Indian Railways accomplished a freight loading of 129.03 MT, demonstrating an impressive 8.47% improvement over the same period the previous year. This freight activity contributed to freight revenue of INR 14,231.05 Crores in October 2023, a substantial increase of about 6.57% compared to October 2022.
The breakdown of the freight loading for October 2023 is as follows:
64.82 MT in Coal, 14.81 MT in Iron Ore, 5.74 MT in Pig Iron and Finished Steel, 6.32 MT in Cement (Excluding Clinker), 4.77 MT in Clinker, 3.62 MT in Foodgrains, 5.72 MT in Fertilizers, 4.35 MT in Mineral Oil, 7.15 MT in Containers and 8.55 MT in Various Other Goods
