Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 2: The NSS Unit (IMDAD) of Government Degree College (GDC) Darhal, in collaboration with the Treasury Office Darhal, organized a pledge-taking ceremony as part of the activities commemorating Vigilance Awareness Week 2023. The primary objective of this event was to instill the true spirit of participation in vigilance and reaffirm everyone's commitment to upholding integrity in public governance.
The theme of the event was "Say No to Corruption; Commit to the Nation," with a special focus on engaging young individuals in vigilance awareness in honor of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth anniversary. A significant number of students and staff members from both organizations enthusiastically participated in the event, demonstrating their knowledge and dedication to this vital cause.
The event commenced with a solemn integrity pledge taken by all the staff and students of the college. This pledge symbolized a collective commitment to fostering integrity and ethical conduct in both official capacities and personal lives.
Following the Integrity Pledge, a poster-making competition was organized, allowing students to showcase their hidden potential and shed light on the far-reaching consequences of corruption, encompassing its political, economic, environmental, and social impact.
In the poster-making competition, Hibza Malik, Kashish Fatima, Areeba Kosser, Sarya Jabeen, and Aleena Anjum clinched the best poster award.
The event was organized under the able guidance of Prof. Mussaraf Hussain Shah, Principal of the College. He apprised the students about the drawbacks of corruption and how it could have a drastic influence on students and society at large. He emphasized that corruption creates a vicious circle that affects the economy and society as a whole. He encouraged students to remain vigilant and report any form of corruption happening around them.
During the event, Treasury Officer Darhal, Sh. Zafer Javed, released a message that emphasized preventive vigilance and the importance of integrity and transparency in public service and governance.
The program was coordinated by Dr. Sunil Kumar Mangoch, NSS (PO), and the students' performance was judged by Prof. Tahir Mahmood. The faculty members who contributed to the event's success included Dr. Ahsan Ul Rehman Rizvi, Dr. Mohd Akhlaq, Dr. Mohd. Raiz, Dr. Mukhtar Hussain, Zahid Nabi Bhat, Fayaz Ahmed Bhat, Dr. Mehwish Bukhari, and Waqar Lodhi, Accountant at Darhal Treasury.
The event not only raised awareness about the importance of vigilance and integrity but also showcased the creativity and dedication of the students in conveying their message through poster art.
