ASCOMS & Hospital organizes CME on Palliative Care

JAMMU, Nov 2: Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences & Hospital organized a CME on various aspects of palliative careunder the guidance of Nandita Mehta, Prof & HOD, Anaesthesia, ASCOMS and support of D.K. Batra, Secretary ASCOMSin which national and international speakers were invited to deliver their talk and share their experiences. DrAshutosh Gupta Principal and Dean Govt. Medical College Jammu& Director, State Cancer Institute, Jammu was the Chief Guest and Dr. LotikaKhajuria, State Drug Controller, Drugs & Food Control Organization, J&K, Jammu was the Guest of Honor graced the occasion. Ms. Gilly Burn, a Palliative Care Practitioner, United Kingdom and Founder Director, Cancer Relief India and an expert on Palliative Care was a special invitee who deliberated the importance of palliative care in medical practice and also spoke about good communication and compassion for the suffering patient and their families. Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, while speaking on the occasion, lauded the efforts made by Dr. Nandita Mehta, Prof. & HOD Deptt. of Anaesthesia ASCOMS and her team for organizing this type of event. He alsodeliberated on basics and scope of palliative care in Jammu. Dr Lotika Khajuria the guest of honouralso appreciated the efforts being made by Dr. Nandita& her team for organizing this scientific activity and spoke on opioids and their availability. DrNandita Mehta in her address thanked Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Dr. LotikaKhajuria and Ms. Gilly Burn for sparing their valuable time to attend this scientific event and share their views. Dr. Nanditaspoke on management of pain in palliative care. The event was well attended by specialists and students from various institutions of the city.
