| Repercussions, effect of culture violence in Dogri literature’ | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 7- Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages organized two day Seminar on ‘Repercussion and Effect of violence in Dogri Literature’ today. The inaugural function was held in the Seminar Hall Computer Science Department, University of Jammu in which Prof BPS Sehgal was the Chief Guest who also inaugurated the seminar. Prof. Lalit Magotra, President. Dogri Sanstha, Jammu presented the key note address and Prof Veena Gupta presided over the function. In his address, Prof BPS Sehgal highlighting the importance of the seminar said that Sahitya Akademi needs to be commended for holding seminar on such an important and topical, issue. He said that writers can play a vital role in promoting peace and harmony by negating violence in the literature. In his key note, Prof Lalit Magotra delved into the genesis of violence and threw light on the unprecedented upheaval that has been created by militancy and terrorism in Jammu region and around. He highlighted various trends in Dogri literature, which have emerged in the prevailing violent environments. He pointed out that where as the destruction and havoc caused by the reign of terror has been amply depicted in the literature, the tendencies and sentiments of secularism, peace and harmony have found more expression in the literature, which augurs well for a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural society. Prof. Archana Kesar thanked the audience, which included a large number of participants, writers, intellectuals, university teachers and students.
