MBSCET Jammu commemorates Barsi of Srimaan Mahant Bachittar Singh Ji

JAMMU, Nov 3: On November 3rd, 2023, MBSCET Jammu organized a series of events to commemorate the Barsi (anniversary) of Srimaan Mahant Bachittar Singh Ji, paying tribute to his significant contributions and legacy. The event witnessed the participation of several distinguished individuals, staff members, and students, all coming together to honor the life and work of this revered figure.
The program commenced with a floral tribute paid to Srimaan Mahant Bachittar Singh Ji by S. Lakhbir Singh Ji Bawa, Advisor, Dr. Jaswant Singh, Retired Director of Animal Husbandry Jammu and Chairman of IGNOU Centre Sant Mela Singh College of Education Jammu, Dr. Harbaksh Singh, Chief Medical Officer of Jammu, as well as other dignitaries, staff members, and students.
Dr. Jaswant Singh shared insights into the background of Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch, shedding light on the remarkable achievements of Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch. He particularly emphasized the significant contributions made by Srimaan Mahant Bachittar Singh Ji during his lifetime, as he devoted himself to society and underscored the importance of human values. Additionally, Dr. Jaswant Singh highlighted the efforts of Srimaan Mahant Manjit Singh Ji, the Sole Trustee of MBS College, in establishing the Engineering College in alignment with the vision of Srimaan Mahant Bachittar Singh Ji.
A seminar focusing on the welfare of elderly individuals was organized as part of the commemoration event. Manjit Singh, Tehsil Welfare Officer in Jammu, and Mr. Ranvir Singh Chib, Regional Manager of the Indian Pollution Control Association, served as the main speakers. Manjit Singh discussed the challenges faced by elderly people in our society and emphasized the importance of caring for their welfare. Ranbir Singh Chib discussed the hazardous effects of plastic waste and recommended scientific waste management practices to create a pollution-free and habitable environment.
In a noble act of community service, a blood donation camp was conducted in collaboration with the Directorate of Health Services, Jammu and Kashmir. This initiative was led by Dr. Harbaksh Singh and involved a team of doctors and para staff from the Government Hospital in Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. Approximately 40 students actively participated by donating blood, contributing to the noble cause.
To promote a clean and healthy environment, a cleanliness drive was organized under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The initiative aimed to clean the Tavi River and was supervised by Prof. Abhijit Saini, the convener of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, and Prof. Ripu Daman Singh, the convener of the NSS (National Service Scheme) Unit. About 100 NSS volunteers actively took part in this effort.
Prof. (Dr.) Dinesh Kumar Gupta, the Principal of MBSCET Jammu, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all the distinguished guests and participants who contributed to the event's success. The program was also graced by the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Amrik Singh, Vice Principal, Prof. Parveen Singh, Dean Academics, S. Hardip Singh Gill, Dean of Students' Welfare, various Heads of Departments, teaching and non-teaching faculty members, and students.
The event was expertly hosted by Prof. Surinder Kaur Bali and Prof. Shivangi Gupta and efficiently coordinated by Prof. Parveen Singh, Dean Academics, ensuring that the commemoration was a fitting tribute to the legacy of Srimaan Mahant Bachittar Singh Ji.
