People up in arms against land grabbers, illegal allotments in city
Stage dharna in front of DC’s office

Udhampur Feb 7- Udhampur residents are up in arms against land grabbers and illegal allotments made in the city by the District administration. A large number of local residents from different walks of life today staged dharna in front of District Development Commissioner’s office raising anti- government and anti- administration slogans.
Expressing grave resentment against the illegal allotment of land against a particular family, the protestors also demanded action against illegal encroachments being made by the land mafias in the city who have encroached upon the government and even did not spare the ponds and the rivers.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashwani Kumar Paba, Sunil Gudda, Jitender Vermani and many others coming heavily upon the revenue authorities have alleged that administration was hand in glove with land mafias who are illegally encroaching lands in city while the administration was all this as mute spectators. They also expressed their resentment over the way the administration allotted government land to three members of a particular Gani family with in zero kilometer of city making main approach road of city near town hall congested. They demanded inquiry as to how the land was allotted thrice to a particular family who had already land at Banihal and other places and having sound economic condition. They added that all the revenue norms were flouted while making allotments. Residents warned district administration of serious consequences if the action was not initiated against the guilty and also threatened to launch agitation over the issue.
Later residents met Ajay Khajuria Deputy Commissioner and apprised him about the concern of locals against land mafias and illegal allotments and demanded that work should be stopped on illegal allotted lands till the inquiry is conducted and action is taken against those involved in scandal . Deputy Commissioner assured local residents that he will look into matter personally and promised speedy action against those found guilty.
