Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 4: The National Sample Survey Office (Field Operations Division), a part of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India, Regional Office, Jammu, organized a Refresher Training Camp for the Annual Survey on Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (ASUSE) 2023-24. The training took place at the Conference hall of Hotel Country Inn, near Bahu Plaza, Jammu and was attended by officers and field staff from NSSO (FOD) Regional Office Jammu and Sub-Regional Office Udhampur.
The ASUSE survey focuses on gathering data related to the economic and operational characteristics of unincorporated non-agricultural establishments in the manufacturing, trade, and other services sectors. This sector is a significant component of the Indian economy, comprising a large number of establishments and providing substantial employment. Reliable and comprehensive data are essential for effective planning and policy formulation.
The ASUSE survey aims to provide an integrated view of the economic and operational aspects of unincorporated non-agricultural enterprises in various sectors. This data will supplement corporate sector data and aid the National Accounts Division (NAD) of the National Statistics Office (NSO) in computing essential components of national accounts. The collected data will serve the needs of different ministries, organizations, and users in general.
The training program was inaugurated by Kishore Kumar, Deputy Director General of the National Statistical Office (Field Operations Division), Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation, Government of India. In his inaugural address, he emphasized the role of the National Sample Survey Office in developing a robust statistical database for use by planners, policy makers, researchers, and various agencies at both national and international levels. He outlined the significance of the ASUSE survey and urged the people of the state to cooperate with the field officers/officials of NSSO (FOD) and provide accurate and reliable information.
The training camp aimed to provide participants with insights into various terms, concepts, procedures, and definitions used in the ASUSE survey. It included discussions on concepts, definitions, technical terms, and the content of schedules to be canvassed during the survey. P. S. Jamwal, Senior Statistical Officer of NSSO (FOD), Government of India, Regional Office, Jammu, conducted the training. The overall coordination of the RTC was managed by Sunil K. Khar, Senior Statistical Officer, Regional Office Jammu. This training is a crucial step in ensuring the success and accuracy of the ASUSE survey for 2023-24.
